    CVIC of the VRI provides referral laboratory and diagnostic services for the livestock industry and being central laboratory serves for the regional Veterinary Investigation Centers (VICs). The main services provided by this division are listed below.

  1. Field and laboratory investigation on livestock, poultry and fish diseases.
  2. Confirmation of livestock , poultry and fish notifiable diseases.
  3. Special laboratory investigations and diagnosis of emerging diseases such as avian influenza in poultry.
  4. Support for enforcement of regulatory provisions (Quarantine Purposes) - Feed, Feed ingredients (Fish meal, Meat & bone meal), Animal products (Whole egg, egg albumen),Water, Food products, Day Old chicks, Bedding papers/litter, Fish and Shrimp, Animal by products, Hatching egg shell washing/swab, Pet birds (carcass/faecal sample), other animals
  5. Quality assurance of Food/Feed/Animal by products
  6. Support for Regional/Global animal health management programme. Proficiency Testing
  7. Surveillance - Salmonella in poultry breeder farms, Magalocytivirus in ornamantal fish, Biannual Fish farm monitoring (Export), Biannual process hygiene monitoring program of poultry processing and further processing establishments
  8. Produce veterinary vaccines and other biologicals - C.M.T. reagent, udder infusion base, teat dipping solution, magnesium chloride solution &Leugole's iodine solution for field use.
  9. Technical advisories for stake holders.
  10. Laboratory training for VS's VIO's & RA's.
  11. Health certification facility for Import and Export of live animals and animal originated products, established at CVIC / VRI
